2004 · 香港
In the heart of the Amazon rainforest in 1538, King Carlos V of Spain dispatches a group of Spanish soldiers led by the aging Don Gonzalo, who is accompanied by his young wife Doña Ana, on a quest to locate the legendary golden city of Teziutlan. Isolated and facing hostility from both indigenous tribes and internal conflicts, including rivalries between soldiers like Alférez Gorriamendi and Martín Dávila over Ana’s affections, the expedition confronts numerous challenges. The situation escalates when Viceroy of Port Prince sends an expedition led by Juan Medrano, accusing Don Gonzalo of treason. Forced to choose between fighting Medrano’s forces or continuing to Teziutlan, the soldiers realize that the hatred among themselves poses a greater threat than the dangers of the rainforest and its inhabitants.
